“The obstacles that are in your way aren’t meant to stop you. They’re designed to point the way to a new route, new possibilities, and new doorways.” Anonymous

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We want to take the time to let you know how much we miss your child.  We know this is extremely hard on the entire family as we deal with fighting the spread of this virus.  The entire district has been working hard to make plans to provide distance learning as well as meal service to all of our HISD students.  Thank you for participating in the online survey. This was a big help in making plans to better serve your child..

*Beginning Wednesday, March 25th we will begin meal service for HISD students 18 and younger for breakfast and lunch. Curbside pickup is available at the HS. Please call 936-876-4287 ext. 4020 to schedule delivery if needed.

*Online Lessons or Learning Folders will begin Wednesday, March 25th.  If you have internet access and a device, students will access their assignments as directed .  Please let your child’s teacher know if they will be participating in online learning or picking up a Learning Folder.  Folders must be picked in the car rider drive thru on Wednesdays from 8-3. If you cannot come pick up your child’s folder, please call your child’s campus office  to request it be delivered. Folders will be picked up and returned completed each Wednesday through the car rider drive thru from 8-3. Teachers will be available via Remind App or email from 8:00-3:00 Monday-Friday if you have questions or need help with assignments.  Lessons will be posted online at some point between Tuesdays at 3:00 p.m. and Wednesdays by 8:00 a.m.  Individual campuses will be providing guidance related to online distance learning.

Guidance and tips for at home instruction:

Schedule a time and place to work on assignments.  It may be beneficial to break up the time instead of trying to complete everything in one sitting.  If you have questions, please contact your child’s teacher or the Campus office.

Thank you as we work together during this difficult time.

Red Team:

Giving the rapidly evolving situation we find ourselves in, HISD will extend our closing until April 3rd.  We continue to support our community in the ongoing goal of containing the spread of COVID-19.

HISD is finalizing logistics on instruction (distance learning/folders of learning) options and distribution of food to address children's nutritional needs while school is out.

Your campus principals and directors will be reaching out to you with plans ASAP for the remainder of this week and moving forward.

I will keep you updated as we move forward.  Thanks for your continued support.

It's a great time to be a Red Devil.

Mr. Flowers
